alyssa light started fashion sewing at age 8 and is proficient and passionate about many crafts. She studied Goldsmithing at Georgian College, during which time she was commissioned to make the 20th anniversary gifts for Blue Rodeo. For two years Alyssa has been a guest teacher at the Creativ Festival — leading classes in fibre arts and embellishing. Alyssa works in the deaf community facilitating a Sensory Exploration Arts Program that teaches life skills in a creative, stimulating and practical way.

Beginner’s Guide to Surface Embellishment Amazed by how other people can make colour and texture work to polish off a project? Come and learn how easy it is to dress up and complete any project. Bead embellishment, appliqué (the right way), fabric paint, fibres, colour mixing and overlapping will all be discussed and/or demonstrated.
