Alyssa Light started sewing at age 8 and has become a proficient sewing enthusiast. Over the years her love of crafts has spilled over into many other art forms including fabric dyeing, button making, glass fusing, embellishment, paper crafting, mixed media and fibre art. She loves to share her knowledge and passion by leading workshops and teaching classes throughout Ontario. Alyssa completed Goldsmithing in college and is currently facilitating a Sensory Exploration Art Program in the Deaf community.

Free Form Fibres Gone Artsy
In this session, Alyssa demonstrates how easy it is to use stabilizers with fibres, yarns and thread to create ‘fabric’. After creating a unique new fabric from your fibres see how to secure the edges and cut it out. You can then frame your art or use it to embellish fashion accessories such as purses, fascinators, hats and even clothing. Lots of stunning samples to look at!

Have you looked endlessly for the perfect stamp, only to come up with something that was just okay for the job? This demo will give you the opportunity to see how different stamps are made from everyday objects or professional supplies can create fantastic patterns on both fabric and paper. Plus find out how you can make your own stamps. Perhaps even the unconventional will surprise and delight you!
