Jacques Cartier Clothier Inc. joins us at Creativ Festival this fall. You may recognize this name as they were at Creativ Festival in October 2010. They had a gorgeous display of Muskox and fine fibres at the front entrance of the show.
In speaking with owner, Sergio Mercado, back in 2010, I was pleasantly surprised by their company’s position on how they obtain the Muskox Fibres that they use. No animals are harmed in the result of collection of these prestigious fibres. As Sergio explained to me that the collection of fibres is done naturally by allowing the animals to roam free. Quietly, and without disturbing the wild Muskox, residents of these high northern regions collect the naturally shed fibres from the ground.
As fall hits in the great north, the Muskox grow a gorgeous coat in order to shield themselves from the harsh winter conditions. As spring comes back and around, the Muskox naturally shed their heavily grown coats. This is all done without compromising the animals welfare or living conditions. There is an extensive collection process involved.
At Creativ Festival this fall, find Jacques Cartier Clothier Inc. (Qiviuk) at booth# 417. They will have Muskox Yarn, guanaco, vicuna, suri, merino and pima yarn and patterns. As pictured above, Sarah Jessica Parker aka Carrie Bradshaw from Sex in the City have enjoyed wearing their Jacques Cartier Clothier wearables.
