Alyssa Light
Alyssa Light is a mixed media artists who is constantly exploring new mediums and creating fabulour works of art. Started sewing at age 8 and has become a proficient sewing enthusiast. Over the years her love of crafts has spilled over into many other art forms including fabric dyeing, button making, surface design, glass fusing, embellishment, paper crafting, silversmithing, mixed media and fibre art. She loves to share her knowledge and passion by leading workshops and teaching classes throughout Ontario. Alyssa completed goldsmithing in college, and is currently facilitating a Sensory Exploration Art Program in the Deaf community.

In this workshop, Alyssa will demonstrate how easy it is to use stabilizers with fibres, yarns and thread to create ‘fabric’. After creating a new fabric from your fibres, secure the edges and cut it out. You can then frame your art or use it to embellish a purse, fascinator or clothing. Lots of stunning samples for inspiration! Kit $20

It’s all about dyeing fabrics! Come and enjoy the world of hand-dyed fabric as you try wax free resist dyeing techniques and shibori, parfait, wax Batik, shaving cream resist, freezer paper and more. See dye take on a life of its own in projects big and small. Bring: 3 meters white 100% cotton. Kit $20

Have you looked endlessly for the perfect stamp, only to come up with something that was just okay for the job? This workshop will give you a chance to try out stamps made from everyday objects and professional supplies, plus instruction on how to make your own. Perhaps even the unconventional will surprise and delight you as both paper and fabric stamping will covered. Bring: Breyer (recommended) & any colour card stock. Kit $10

Who ever thought that putting together feathers, fabric, faux bits and lots of beads could create the most in-demand fashion accessory? Fascinators are worn by women of all ages and can be easily created using a needle, thread, hot glue and a head band. Creating structure using wire and adhesives, as well as tulle, crinoline and organza will be covered. Even if they aren’t your cup of tea, come and see what all the rage is about! Bring: Favourite embellishments or trims. Kit $15
