Cork fabric , or cork leather as it is sometimes called, is a high quality fabric produced from thin cork shavings obtained directly from the bark of the cork oak tree.
The production of cork fabric consists of adhering thin slices of natural cork to a textile base. different textiles supports depends of the final usage of fabric:
- Cotton/Polyester fabric is used for clothing
- PU coagulated lining for footwear, leather goods, bookbinding
- Viscose/Polyester – fabric for furnishing and upholstery applications
- Nylon fabric for accessories like umbrella, raincoast
Through sophisticated techniques the raw material is transformed into a fabric that is soft as velvet,resistant to stains and scratches, water proof, dust and mite repellent.
