Medieval Page Illumination (20) All Levels
Learn the basic skills to create a glowing miniature painting that will look like it was ripped from an ancient manuscript. Using real gold leaf and images inspired from history, your illumination will be beautiful framed, on its own or used to embellish a special project. In this case, everything that glitters IS gold. Bring: 4H pencil, fine tipped black pen & small paint brushes (10/0 to 2). Brushes for sharing available in class. Kit $12
3 Hour Workshop
Susan Carroll-Clark has taught calligraphy scripts at major SCA events and in a variety of less formal settings. Susan is trained in palaeography (history of scripts) from the University of Toronto’s Centre for Medieval Studies.
Calligraphy (20) All Levels
This session includes a quick historical overview of historic font types, known as ‘hands’ followed by instruction on Carolingian minuscule and Gothic. These fonts can be used to embellish scrapbook pages, gift and holiday cards and letters. Bring: 4H pencil & ruler. Kit $14
