Connie Crawford is a licensed designer for Butterick patterns, member of the Sewing Hall of Fame and owner of Fashion Patterns by Coni (true-to-body fit for mature and plus size women from sizes X-Small to 6X). Styling Made Easy: Draping & Patternmaking (All Levels)
Drawing from her 35 years in the fashion industry, Connie teaches how to draft and make your own princess seams, favourite collars, custom necklines with ruffles and flounces, yokes, sleeves and other popular fashion details. Learn to fit the gaposis of a neckline, make a shoulder and armhole fit properly and match the collar to your necklines. Using 1/3 scale patterns you will try a few of these design elements. Fitting & Styling for All Cup Sizes: A to I (22) All Levels
It’s about draping your personal fit for an A/B, C/D/DD, F/G and H/I cup. Using your personal measurements and cup sizes, learn the art of fitting a pattern for various cup sizes. Connie demonstrates the different drapes needed to make the various cup sizes, shoulders and armholes to create a perfect custom blouse (sloper). Using finished blouse shells (60 various sizes from 8 to 20 and 1X to 6X) you’ll be personally fit by Connie. Then see how to use this custom blouse pattern to style any blouse, vest, dress or jacket and how to interchange various pattern pieces from other existing patterns.

Fitting Sleeves & Armholes (40) All Levels
Learn the key to making correct armholes and proper fitting sleeves. Using her patternmaking experience from the fashion industry, Connie shows how a pattern is made to illustrate how the armholes fit your body. Working with ladies from the audience she will demonstrate how to make the sleeve fit correctly into your custom armhole. Up-close details will be projected using a camera.

Grading: Making Patterns Larger or Smaller (30) Intermediate
Discover fashion industry grading techniques. First Connie illustrates theory and the method of grading and how to select different grades for different sizes and people. Using a specially made grading ruler, you will be given a basic pattern and learn to grade in a step-by-step method. This class and method is a must to help those who have always wanted to change a pattern size. Bring: Painters tape, sharp pencil & pen. Connie shares the latest trends in designs, fabrics and colours for the coming season. She draws on information from the professionals who interpret the catwalks from Paris, Milan, London and New York. From the runway to reality, this forecast information will give reliable predictions to meet the needs of the fashion minded. Plus, get inside the life of a fashion designer as Connie takes you behind the seams and shares experiences from her 35 years in the fashion industry.
