Ruth Emerson is an OHCG certified teacher who started traditional rug hooking in 1972. Her work has been published in A Needle Pulling Thread magazine and her large depiction of the Niagara Escarpment is in a permanent exhibit in the Niagara Regional Headquarters in Thorold, ON.

Rug hooking can be traced back to the 19th century and was a craft born of necessity. Today’s hookers are creating art! Join Ruth to learn the basics of traditional rug hooking in a fun way by creating two Christmas ornaments: a small ginger bread man and teddy bear. You’ll receive instructions on how to finish the projects at home. Bring: Small sharp scissors, 10″ or 12″ hoop or Q-frame no larger than 12″. Hooks on loan in class or purchase for $10. Kit $15
