Diane Gloystein, National Educator of Sulky of America
As a National Educator for Sulky of America, designer and artist, Diane Gloystein is travelling almost every week of the year, but this time of year, she is looking forward to one of her favorite festivals, Creativ festival in Toronto Oct. 25 – 27.
This year, she will be teaching two classes, Illusionary Bars, which will appeal to art quilters and apparel artists; and Not Your Grandmother’s Quilt, a fabulous class that will teach painting on fabric with watercolor pencils and overlaying with stitching.
“I have saved the best for last this year (The Not Your Grandmother’s Quilt class is on Sunday from 1-4 p.m.). This class is a preview of the new book that I just co-authored with Joyce Drexler called Embellish Your Life with Sulky due out later this year. I am so proud of this book. It has 25 great projects that will really get your ‘Creativ festival’ juices flowing,” Gloystein said.
“I love this show because it’s not just people who work with fabric. You have all kinds of artists who work with paper, beads, yarn, mixed media, textiles and more. It is a wonderful meeting of creative minds,” Gloystein said. She will also be presenting a lecture and trunk show called ‘Threads of Embellishment’ where attendees will be inspired by some of Diane’s favorite pieces.
Embellish Your Life
Gloystein has sewing and creating with fabric in her blood. She has been sewing since she was 4 years old and a member of the local 4H club in her hometown in Nebraska. She majored in Fashion Merchandising at the University of Nebraska and is a self proclaimed clothes hoarder, “There will never be an adequate amount of clothing in my closet.”
