50 Shades of Filet (25) Intermediate
Learn how to add depth to filet crochet pieces by adding textures. Filet charts, with their black and white blocks are lovely and fun to transform into lacy fabric, but imagine working subtle gradations in your lace like cross-stitchers do on their fabric? Don’t settle for only two-tone blocks of solid stitches or lacy spaces. You’ll learn several strategies to make gradual transitions in your filet lace. We’ll explore how to take favourite filet motifs and make them more subtle and how to make our own charts with free software to crochet pieces no one has seen before, but will soon become contemporary favourites. Crochet cotton donated by: Knitpix and Universal Yarns. Bring: Steel crochet hooks ranging from 1.25mm to 2mm to determine best gauge, notebook, writing tools & grid paper.

Taking Intarsia Around the Bend (25) Intermediate
Never say never… it is possible to work intarsia in the round. In fact there is more than one way to bring wide swathes of colour into your in-the-round knitting. As Robert Frost wrote, “The only way round is through”, so we will be making our way through two approaches to this knitting technique. You can choose to work on a tubular swatch of your own design, or follow the provided pattern for some wrist warmers. If you dislike seaming, but want to work some intarsia magic in your knitting, you’ll be glad you took the road less travelled. Pre-requisite: Familiarity with K, P, cast-on, bind-off & working in-the-round. Bring: 100 grams each of worsted weight yarn in three different colours & your preferred needle size for chosen yarn and type for working in-the-round.
