Original Graphics Rich in Texture, Colour & Detail!
Valerie Miller spent her student years studying Interior Design. In subsequent years she has worked part time, been an at home mother of two very active children, now at university, an involved community volunteer and small business owner. She embarked on her career as a fulltime fibre artist as her children left home to follow their own interests, but quilting began as a part-time pursuit some years earlier. In 2009 she was invited to represent Renfrew County in the Eastern Ontario Artists Marketplace at Toronto’s spring One of a Kind Show and attended the subsequent Christmas show. Her endeavours include designing and publishing a series of small quilt patterns for one of Canada’s larger fabric production and distribution companies, and work shopping her original techniques and designs.
Currently, Valerie continues to design and publish new patterns, assemble fabric collections, conduct workshops and produce and market original and custom work. She expresses and explores original graphics, inventive techniques in quilting and pattern design with attention to texture, colour and detail. Her award winning quilts and patterns are on exhibit at fine galleries, juried shows, and on line and retail locations. She regularly shares her work, love of fibre and quilting through trunk shows and workshops. www.ValerieMillerQuiltedCovers.com
The creative process has always been an essential part of any endeavour for me. This expression, shared with a love of natural fibre, clean line, colour, design, texture and detail, has, after many incarnations, brought me to small quilts.
Each new combination of hue, original design or inventive technique provides fresh enthusiasm for what I do. The ever-changing nature and growth of ideas from one project to the next is infectious and leaves me with a passion and energy for future creative challenges.
