Maria Lopez-Johnstone was born in Venezuela but has lived in Canada for the last 23 years. She discovered her passion for creating and designing years ago when asked by a friend to design jewelry for a fashion show. The success of that opportunity lead her open her own business, doing what she loves the most: designing and creating.She has received training in both Venezuela and Canada, and continues with the evolution of her designs. Her inspiration comes mainly from interaction of nature and colour. She is always challenging herself to find ways of using materials that are not usually seen as compatible, and adding durability to those that are transient in nature.
She likes transmitting a feeling of connection to nature and spirit, and loves seeing people of all ages wearing her pieces. Simplicity, functionality and wearability through experimenting with the interaction of Light, Colour and Nature. www.marialopez.ca
