Explore new possibilities with Spiral Patchwork, a basic concept derived from the Bishop Method of making scarves. Discover this new approach and add versatility to this old technique by changing the angle. It’s so much fun to slice and dice fabric, then twist and fold to stitch it back together in an artistic formula. The only guarantee with strip piecing is that no two designs will look alike. Bring: Rotary cutter, small mat, 1 yd. muslin & beige thread.

Come join the fun of creating a one-of-a-kind handbag using some of Linda’s favourite techniques. Use this quick, easy bag, as a palette for thread embellishment with a variety of decorative stitches, weights of threads and couching applications. Only a few basic techniques and marvel as you play using more of the stitches and buttons on your sewing machine. Insert zippers the quick and easy way and leave with a completed three pocket bag with two zipper pockets and one with a sew-in magnetic snap, sewn in by machine!

Be among a select few to pick up tricks from Linda’s hot new book, Zip Couture. Whether a beginner or seasoned stitcher, the zippered cosmetic tote makes a great quick and easy project or gift. Learn a new way to install a zipper without the end dangling off the bag. And, sew an inside zipper pocket for smaller items without a zipper foot. It’s about using sewing machine feet to your best advantage for fast and accurate finishing touches. And, of course there’s lots of embellishment ideas as well.

Bring your sense of adventure and have fun sewing crooked as you explore the possibilities of surface design. Create a wonderful work of art that can later be used in a yoke, bag or wall hanging by establishing a new approach to old techniques, using feet for accuracy and design with a variety of thread applications. Use some threads in the needle, others in the foot and build confidence in your sewing machine skills. Develop a sense of freedom by creating a mixed media masterpiece in this technique workshop.

Corded piping, sew-in magnetic snaps, bag feet, zipper applications and under construction essentials, just some of the basics that can turn an ordinary bag into a design that is uniquely YOU. Get tips for proper positioning of creative design for all styles of bags, from large everyday carryalls to elegant clutches. Linda’s collection will inspire you to make your own or transfer the same techniques to garments or quilts.
