Sharon Galna was taught to sew at the age of 11 by her mother. She started out by making simple garments and continued with her love of sewing throughout public and high school by making her own clothes.  She took that love of sewing to the next level by studying fashion design at college. It was while in college in 1983 that she made her first quilt to celebrate her grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary and was immediately hooked.

It’s been ages since that first quilt and she hasn’t made garments for a very long time. Sharon’s time is now devoted to teaching the art of quilting at The Ultimate Sewing Centre in Oshawa and presenting trunk shows and giving workshops to quilt guilds around the province of Ontario.

She has had pieces juried into the Grand National Quilt Exhibition (2006, 2007, 2010) where she received an honourable mention for Party Animals in 2006. Her work has also been shown at the Joseph Schneider Haus, the Oshawa Fibre Arts Show, the Visual Arts Centre of Clarington and the Mclean Community Centre, Ajax.
