CraftMeLovely has a new Fall line that includes jewelry of course but also crocheted goods for Fall/Winter as well as relaxing lavender and scented satchels which are perfect for getting cozy and being relaxed on cool Fall nights! This Fall I’m also introducing vintage inspired clutches! The crocheted goods are infinity scarves, headbands and cowls.
I know that was a lot to take in, so to recap CraftMeLovely is introducing for the first time:
- headbands/ear warmers
- scented satchels
- vintage inspired clutches
Find all these fabulous items for gifts or something special for yourself at Creativ Festival this fall.
From field to fashion… Alpaca fleece is light or heavy in weight, depending on how it is spun. It’s soft, durable, luxurious and silky. While similar to sheep’s wool, it’s warmer, not prickly and has no lanolin making it hypoallergenic. Alpaca is naturally water-repellent and difficult to ignite. Join Canadian Alpaca Fibre Works as they feature everything from fine knit garments to home goods including duvets, blankets, rugs and even insulation material.
Fashion Runway – Fri 3:00
Discover and explore the amazing world of alpacas in this interactive exhibit presented by a group of local alpaca farmers, whose goal is to educate and inspire! Watch Amy Kung-Oliver in the blink of an eye turn Alpaca batts into fabric in all degrees of density as she Needle Felts with the FeltLOOM®. Be amazed as Melody MacDonald works her Circular Antique Sock Machine. And, David demonstrates Weaving Techniques with the Cricket Loom. Plus, they’ll be showcasing luxurious yarns and products produced here in Canada from their own herds.

Vanessa wrote us a letter.
“When I was at the show in October, I met a woman by the name of Dominique Dube. She saw my chainmaille clothing at the booth and she also attended my presentation about chainmaille clothing. After the presentation, she said that she was working with a theater production that would be interested in commissioning a couple of chainmaille tunics.
Those tunics were featured in the American Repertory Theater’s production of Pippin, which will be going to Broadway this March. None of that would have happened without the CreativFestival.”
Who is Vanessa Walilko?
Vanessa Walilko has been making meticulous pieces of jewelry most of her life. At age eight, she took a beaded jewelry class in the summer, and fell in love with putting together little beads in order to make whatever ideas she could dream up. She took a chainmaille class in 2006 and has linked over 100,000 jump rings ever since.
Pieces from Vanessa’s Urban Armor series have been featured in national exhibitions, including the 2010 Society of North American Goldsmiths’ “Exhibition in Motion” at the Museum of Fine Art in Houston, TX. Her pieces have also won international awards. Her chainmaille jacket won 2nd place in the Wirework category and the People’s Choice Award in the 2010 Bead Dreams competition. Her scalemail jacket won first place in the Wirework and Chain Maille Jewellery category of the 2010 British Bead Awards.
When Vanessa is not making jewelry, she can be found teaching jewelry making in Chicago or writing papers on critical theory.
Vanessa is teaching at Creativ Festival this fall. We are thrilled to have her at our show once again.

It’s just a fact that in the majority of sewing room’s across our great country, there is a coveted, ever growing and always cherished fabric stash. The variety or volume of our stash is as unique as the method in which we store our beloved fat quarters & meters.
Fact #2, whether it’s an entire room full of beautiful fabric samples or 1 storage container – if we can’t see our fabric it we won’t use it.
We’ve all had the time when we needed that beautiful red batik that happened to be at the bottom of a 3 foot tall stack fabric. Or, when we wanted to use the novelty print to finish several half square triangles but it is tucked away in the 3rd container at the back of the closet; guess what – it’s going to stay right where it is. So, fact # 3, we would sometimes rather go to the fabric store and see what they have rather than climb over or through the precious ‘stuff’, eh? I’m with you there!
If you’re like me when I visit (weekly) my local quilting store, I rarely walk out of there without a least 1 meter of fabric.
The Reewrap is a fantastic way for a quilter or seamstress to manage the stockpile of our gorgeous fibers. The most obvious benefit is that it gives you the ability to SEE everything you have regardless of how you store your stash. You will have access all of your stash at any given moment.

Shelley and Jeanne of The Quilt Patch are pleased to announce the release of thier second fabric collection – Wallflowers.
The collection is designed by Shelley and Jeanne for Clothworks fabrics.
