Helen Dissell & Gill Pope

Helen Dissell & Gill Pope

Helen Dissell & Gill Pope are two good friends who met at a cake decorating class 17 years ago. Since then they have travelled the world together sharing their passion, learning new skills and keeping abreast of international techniques and standards. Despite being separated by thousands of miles and on 2 continents they created Sugarartcreations 12 years ago and launched their first book on sugar work 2 years ago. The decision to write their book took place over numerous cups of coffee, glasses of champagne, emails and sms texts. Thank goodness for modern technology!

Cake decorating has built great friendship and skills between them and others passionate about sugar artistry. What started as a hobby soon became a profession and perfection is the name of their game both in visual appeal and culinary delight.

Inspired and taught by the late Gladiola Botha and the South African Cake Decorating Guild, Helen and Gill are both qualified teachers and judges in sugar and chocolate work. They train students internationally in Australia and South Africa maintaining high standards and marrying new and old techniques with a funky modern trend and approach. Both are members of the South African Cake Decorators Guild, Australian Cake Decorators Association and British Sugar Guild as well as the Canadian Society of Sugar Artistry. They hope that their book Sugarartcreations inspires many new and enthusiastic cake decorators. Check out their wonderful creations www.sugarartcreations.com.au

Holiday Ornament (25) All Levels
In an updated version to the Sugar Easter Eggs of yester year, we bring this technique to 2012 and feature a decorative sugar ornament for your holiday tree. Using variegated paste, we’ll design the ornament to look like glass and trim with piped decorations and crimping techniques. A masterpiece and treasured heirloom for your decorating.
