Learn the basic skills to create a glowing miniature painting that will look like it was ripped from an ancient manuscript. Using real gold leaf and images inspired from history, your illumination will be beautiful framed, on its own or used to embellish a special project. In this case, everything that glitters IS gold. Bring: 4H pencil, fine tipped black pen & small paint brushes (10/0 to 2). Brushes for sharing available in class. Kit $12

Susan Carroll-Clark has taught calligraphy scripts at major SCA events and in a variety of less formal settings. Susan is trained in palaeography (history of scripts) from the University of Toronto’s Centre for Medieval Studies.

Marlene offers an assortment of products which includes patterns, books, and notions. She has recently added space in her home to facilitate classes to teach others on how to quilt.

Marlene also hosts a terrific blog. You will fall in love with the research and time she has dedicated into designing and maintaining it.

MarNic Designs: Original Cross-Stitch

MarNic Designs at Creativ FestivalMarNic Designs, original cross-stitch designs, joins us at Creativ Festival this coming fall. They founded their business in 1995 and you can find them in Waterloo Ontario.

I strongly encourage you to put your imagination to work. See their Evolution of Design Webpage. This webpage shows in detail how her simple sketch evolved into a gorgeous picture called “Memories of Tuscany”. I found myself staring at it for several minutes, cross comparing her sketches to the final piece. I was inspired and maybe you will be as well.

Looking further into their website, check out custom stitching. She transformed a painting of a house into a cross stitch masterpiece.

MarNic Designs is a Needlework Designer. She will have many products related to cross stitching. Find them in Booth# 601 at Creativ Festival.
