Learn the basic skills to create a glowing miniature painting that will look like it was ripped from an ancient manuscript. Using real gold leaf and images inspired from history, your illumination will be beautiful framed, on its own or used to embellish a special project. In this case, everything that glitters IS gold. Susan Carroll-Clark has taught calligraphy scripts at major SCA events and in a variety of less formal settings. Susan is trained in palaeography (history of scripts) from the University of Toronto’s Centre for Medieval Studies.

Here she started exploring her creativity and began importing a medium called Paverpol which allows you to create unique sculptures using most often, only a t-shirt! Discover how easy it is to create sculptures from an old t-shirt with Paverpol, a non-toxic, water based textile hardener. Simply dip your fibre into the Paverpol and wrap it around a sturdy base to create this stunning 2 piece sculpture that stands approximately 40cm high including the base. Receive instructions to dry-brush at home. It’s a physical process so be prepared to roll up your sleeves! Cure 2 weeks indoors and your art piece can also be placed outside. Bring: Scissors, apron & optional vinyl gloves. Kit $35
