Slow Fashion with Linda Lundstrom

Creativ Festival 2014

Lundstrom in her Studio

The recent collapse of the garment factory building in Bangladesh has shed light on a situation most Canadians had given little thought. It’s called Fast Fashion and is responsible for the low prices of garments sold at the supermarket, or the tote bags we use to reduce the amount of plastic we consume. Now that the RamaPlaza building has collapsed, we understand the cost in human lives paid by the factory workers. It’s a complex issue…if people stop buying clothing made in Bangladesh…then what happens to the workers who depend upon these factory jobs to support their families? These inexpensive products are everywhere… we can’t escape them.

If you wonder how you can be more conscientious in the ways you spend your money, there is something you can do…it’s called ‘Slow Fashion’ and is made right here in Canada BY YOU.

Whether you are a skilled sewer or just beginning to enjoy DIY (do it yourself) projects, the upcoming Creative Festival at the International Centre on April 25 and 26 will show thousands of items to help you make your own SLOW FASHIONS, with quality and care.

I will be there to share stories from inside the Fashion Industry and will join the other vendors to show you the tools I use to design and produce my collection. Visit me in my booth or come to the main stage (Fri & Sat 10:30 and 2:30) and allow me to inspire you. Linda Lundstrom – Booth #224
