Elaine Theriault is self described to be a bit of a free-lance quilt instructor, designer and creative soul! She is not only a proficient quilter, but also talented in many other needle arts. She has taught at guilds, stores and in her home studio. She has entertained many audiences with her wonderful stories about challenges, scrap quilts and even organizing your sewing room.
Elaine has been writing an in-depth technical quilting article for A Needle Pulling Thread for the past 3 years and has also started an article for the magazine on repurposing articles for art. Case in point – she just transformed a bunch of Carla Canonico’s (editor-in-chief) linen clothing into a beautiful linen quilt. She is also working on quilts made form t-shirts and has made quilts from men’s neck ties. She’s also working on repurposing crocheted afghans (don’t tell Michael Sellick!), denim as other textile items. Punch needle embroidery is 3D tufted needlework stitched using a special hollow needle. Using a vast array of threads and ribbons, add colour, richness and texture to your projects with this technique. Elaine leads you to create a sampler of different stitches in this information packed workshop, perfect for the beginner to the more advanced punch needle embroiderer. Kit $17 includes punch needle.
